Lifesavers Club opens branch in Cama Hospital
Mumbai, Oct 3 (UNI) A branch of Lifesavers Club was inaugurated at Cama Hospital here today in order to provide life-saving Platelet, an essential component of blood.
Principal Secretary (Medical Education) Amitabh Chandra and Director, Health Services Dr Prakash Doke were present on the occasion.
Dr Doke said Mumbai needs 400 such bags in a day and demand for it increases upto 4,000 during the outbreak of diseases.
Lifesavers Club has been initiated with co-operation of NGOs -- Think Foundation and Doctor for You. Platelets are collected through Apheresis machine and are available in nine government and municipal hospitals viz KEM, JJ and Cama among others.
