JKCA bans D Mhajan and Abid for joining ICL

Srinagar, Oct 3 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has banned skipper D Mahajan and up coming medium pacer Abid Nabi for joining the ebel Indian Cricket League (ICL).

However, Abid Nabi says he has no regrets and will join the ICL.

The JKCA has also cancelled the basic registration of both the players, this was decided at a crucial meeting held here.

The two cricketers have also been expelled from their respective clubs.

Association's general secretary Salim Khan told UNI that Abid Nabi and D Mahajan have been expelled by their associations for joining the ICL despite warning by the BCCI and JKCA.

Both the cricketers cannot play any tournaments sponsored and organised by the association in future, he added.

He said BCCI has also been informed about the decision to expel the players.

When contacted Abid Nabi told UNI that I have joined ICL recently and I go ahead.

He refused to comment when asked about the JKCA decision banning and expelling them.

Pacer Abid Nabi, who was the most successful bowler in the under-19 Indian team series against England, said after joining the ICL he feels ''quite relaxed'',.

''Now is the time for me to prove my talent'', he said.

''I think, ICL is the right platform for me and Mahajan, he said and added it is the time for both of us to let the world know about Jammu and Kashmir's cricketing potential, which has been till date neglected.

Abid Nabi joined the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) on September 28. He is one of the 18 cricketers who joined the league including former international stars Chris Cairns, Chris Harris, Nathan Astle, Hamish Marshal of New Zealand, Darren Maddy of England, Azhar Mahmood of Pakistan and former Indian left arm spinner Nilesh Kulkarni.

The ICL has signed over 60 cricketers with batting great Brian Lara and former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul Haq.

The BCCI has already announced the life ban for players who will joins the breakaway league and they recently expelled Kapil Dev from the chairmanship of National Cricket Academy.
