Court frames charges against Daler in human trafficking case

Patiala, Oct 3 (UNI) A local court today framed charges against Punjabi Pop singer Daler Mehendi, his brother and others for criminal conspiracy, forgery and cheating in the much-publicised human trafficking cases.

Judicial Magistrate Ist Class Param Jit Singh Rai today gave the order, as arguments for framing of charges under sections 120-B, 420 and 467 has already been completed in August.

Daler Mehendi, his brother Shamsher Mehendi and other a ccused Bulbul Mehta and Dhian Singh were present in the court.

The counsel of the complainant Gurpreet Singh Bhasin told reporters that the court had ordered to frame charges in the 31 similar complaints against Daler Mehndi.

Patiala police had registered a case under various sections of the IPC and the Indian Passport Act on September 19, 2003 at the Sadar police station here, on the complaint of Bakhshish Singh of Balbehra village.

With Bakhshist's complaint and 24 other complainants, Daler Mehndi, his brother Shamsher Mehendi and two others were changed for allegedly taking money on the promise of taking them abroad as part od his musical troupe.

They alleged that the Mehendi brothers not only refused to return their money, instead they were threatening them to keep quiet over the whole issue.
