New Delhi, Oct 3 (UNI) A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an unknown person near her Sarojini Nagar residence in South-West Delhi in the early hours today.

Police, however, have detained six people on the basis of the description of the accused given by the child, a Class II student.

The incident took place at about 0230 hrs while the child was sleeping at her one-room accomodation in 'D' Block Netaji Nagar, said the police.

The assailant reportedly took her a few blocks away and raped her on the stairs of a residential block. He later dropped her at her place after assaulting her.

After the girl's father, an autorickshaw driver, heard her cries and found her bleeding, he took her to the Safdarjung Hospital and reported the matter to the police.

While the girl was sleeping with her mother and younger sister on one bed, her father was on the other cot when she was allegedly 'picked', said family members.

The child's father has been living at the Netaji Nagar rented accomodation for nearly two-and-a-half years and hails from Chhapra in Bihar.
