Cabinet appoints sub-committee to study Harrison land issue: CM

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 3 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said the Cabinet has decided to constitute a ministerial level sub-committee to study on the Harrison Plantation land issue.

Talking to reporters here, he said the Cabinet approved the report about the illegal encroachment and sale of Harrison estate and appointed the sub-committee with Ministers Binoy Viswam, S Sharma, P K Gurudasan, K P Rajendran and M Vijayakumar as its members for further study.

Mr Achuthanandan said it was also decided to authorise each Minister in every district to monitor the progress of road works in the state, which was in a bad condition.

The Chief Minister said the government would seriously consider whether it could provide compensation to the families of those killed in accidents due to poor road conditions.
