Ban on private cars of expats for Haj travel
Dubai, Oct 3 (UNI) Saudi Arabia has warned that Haj and Umrah operators who allow the pilgrims to travel on their own inside Saudi Arabia, without any supervision, would be stiffly penalised.
Hamad Al Mualla, Director of Haj and Umrah Department, of General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Awqaf (GAIAA) said yesterday, ''The pilgrims should enter the holy lands in transport provided by their respective Haj operators and the Haj operators would be responsible for serving pilgrims in the UAE and Saudi Arabia,'' reports Khaleej Times.
The Saudi Arabia will not allow the entry of vehicles owned by expatriate residents for performing Haj or Umrah.
According to an agreement signed between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, residents of UAE will not be allowed to travel in their own cars in Saudi Arabia for Haj or Umrah.
He added that agreement will ensure the safety of pilgrims.
However the UAE nationals may travel to Saudi Arabia in their cars any time because they do not need an entry visa.
