Srinagar, Oct 3 (UNI) A senior army officer and three militants of Al-Badr, including a self styled divisional commander, were killed and three soldiers wounded in a fierce gun-battle in north Kashmir, official sources said today.
They said the encounter at Tangmarg in the Baramulla district erupted after an army patrol was fired upon by the militants yesterday in the afternoon.
Reinforcement was rushed to the area from nearby camps and the entire area was cordoned off.
In the clash, which was still going on, an army major and three Al-Badr militants were killed. One of the slain militant has been identified as divisional commander of the outfit.
Sources said three soldiers, including a major was wounded in the gun-battle.
