Bhubaneswar, Oct 3 (UNI) The Orissa Secondary and Elementary Education Dead Distress Family Rehabilitation Samiti today demanded the government to rehabilitate all the 1000 eligible candidates in the second phase under the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme.

Samiti president Bira Bikrama Dev Biswal told mediapersons here today that since the implementation of the scheme in 1990 the government had provided jobs to 924 candidates in the first phase.

However, presently while 1000 candidates were waiting to be rehabilitated, there were only 200 vacancies, he said.

Mr Biswal said since the government had decided to recruit 40,000 teachers soon to fill up the vacancies, he had appealed to the Chief Minister to recruit all the 1000 candidates as teachers to rehabiliate them.

He said arrangement should be made to provide inservice training to candidates, who were not trained.

Mr Biswal also demanded the government to rehabilitate the candidates, whose parents expired before 1990 as well as the candidates, who were disqualified on various grounds.

The candidates, who had been on a dharna since this morning, demanding fulfilment of their demands were scheduled to meet the Chief Minister tomorrow.
