TREDA to open second renewable energy park for NE

Agartala, Oct 02 (UNI) Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) is all set to open the second Renewable Energy Education Park for the Northeast at Tripura University (Central) Campus on October four next.

Talking to UNI here today TREDA Project Director Sumanta Chakraborty said people of Tripura would be getting a spectacular renewable energy park had been set up in Tripura University complex to motivate the students to use the energy sources.

The New and Renewable Energy ministry had already spent Rs 78 lakh for the park to install a number of innovative exhibits operated by solar, wind and biomass energy.

''Visitors will have a thrilling experience in the park and get to known the variety of models functioning with renewable energy system, including solar cooker, solar photovoltaic plant, biomass gassifires, solar powered road traffic flasher, energy conversion device etc,'' Mr Chakraborty said.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is scheduled to inaugurate the park.

The New and Renewable Energy ministry provides support for setting up of these parks at district and state levels across the country. About 26 state level and 480 district level parks were sanctioned so far, Mr Chakraborty added.
