Three of a family commit suicide in Punjab
Phagwara, Oct 2 (UNI) A woman and her two minor children allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in Nakodar town of Jalandhar district last night, police today said.
According to reports, the three were rushed to a hospital in Jalandhar by neighbours. While both the children died last night their mother breathed her last in the wee hours today.
The deceased were identified as Kulwinder Kaur, her son Manpreet (10) and daughter Navjot Kaur (15). All the three consumed sulphas tablets.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Kulwinder Kaur was in a state of depression as her husband Ravinder Singh had illict relations with two young girls of Sarakpur village. Kulwinder along with her two children consumed sulphas tablets after her husband beat her yesterday evening.
The police has registered a case under section 306 IPC against Ravinder and the two girls with whom he was allegedly having an affair. The bodies of all the three were handed over to the family members after conducting a post mortem examination in Nakodar civil hospital today.
