TAIPEI, Oct 2 (Reuters) Taiwan's Acer Inc <2353.TW>, the world's third-largest PC vendor, said on Tuesday it is extending its 0 million offer for rival Gateway Inc to allow U.S. regulators time to complete a review of the deal.
The offer will be extended until 5 p.m. EDT (2100 GMT) on Wednesday Oct. 10, from midnight EDT on Oct. 1, Acer said in a statement.
Acer held 307 million shares, or almost 81 percent, of Gateway on Oct. 1, the company said.
Acer announced plans to buy Gateway in August, displacing Chinese rival Lenovo <0992.HK> as the world's No.3 PC maker.
Acer shares rose 4 percent on Tuesday, outperforming the benchmark TAIEX index <.TWII>, which ended 1.4 percent higher.
