Mid-term polls seem a certainty: Sangma
Jaipur, Oct 2(UNI) A mid-term parliamentary poll looked a certainty with both the Congress and the Left taking extreme positions on the Indo-US civil nuclear deal, former Lok Sabha Speaker P A Sangma said today.
Mr Sangma said,'' According to my mind, the Left parties may not continue to support the government if it goes ahead with the deal and start negotiations with the IAEA. But it all depends on the Congress.'' Mr Sangma, who was here to attend the national convention of the Advasi Parishad, while speaking to media persons said mid-term polls seemed to be a certainty with the Congress and the Left parties posturing on the nuclear accord.
He said in that scenario Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was left with three options.
He said Dr Singh was left with the option of either tendering his resignation, or seek a vote of confidence in the Lok Sabha, or keep quiet and bide his time as former Premier Narasimha Rao did while running the first Congress-led coalition governemnt at the Centre, he said in a lighter vein.
