Haryana launches Hospital-on-Wheels for pregnant women

Mewat, Oct 2 (UNI) On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the Haryana government today launched the Hospital-on-Wheels for pregnant women.

Governor A R Kidwai and Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda flagged off a mobile delivery-cum-operating van which would function as the hospital on wheels at Ghasera village, the venue of the state level function organised to mark Gandhi Jayanti.

The Governor and the Chief Minister also flagged off nine mobile vans which would be used for transporting pregnant women to of hospitals.

Ghasera is the village which was visited by Mahatma Gandhi on December 19, 1947 to motivate the Meos not to migrate to Pakistan after the partition of the country.

The Chief Minister also launched a financial assistance for Gram Panchayats for improving sanitation and generating employment amongst Scheduled Castes.

The Chief Minister presented letters of engagements to six 'safai karamcharis' of Mewat district. The presentation marked the launching of the governments programme to appoint 11,000 'safai karamcharis' in the state. Each 'safai karamchari' would be paid Rs 3525 per month.

The Governor and the Chief Minister also inaugurated an exhibition highlighting the life, teachings and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi.

A multi-speciality health camp was also organised at Ghasera in which 7000 patients would be diagnosed.
