Rajkot, Oct 2 (UNI) With a view to spread the message of Mahatma Gandhi, the Freedom Yuva Group, a local youth group, organised a grand yatra on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti today.

The yatra, 'Gandhi Vichar Yatra', was commenced from the Jubilee Bagh and culminated at the Rashtriya Shala, the karam bhoomi of Gandhiji.

Bhagyesh Vora of Freedom Yuva Group said, ''Last year on the same day, we had organised the 'Shobhayatra'. In which, one of the ten floats had depicted terrorist organisation Al-Qaeda's chief Osama bin Laden surrendering at the feet of Mahatma Gandhi. This time, 20 floats depicted the theme from 'Mohan to Mahatma'.'' ''We tried to spread Gandhiji's message and his lifestyle through the float,'' he added.

All the youngsters, who took part in today's yatra, had donned Khadi clothes and Gandhi topi. A special float -- the centre of attraction among other floats -- presented the theme 'My life is my Message', Mr Vora said.

Meanwhile, at Porbandar, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi attended an all religious prayer meeting at Kirti Mandi, the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi, on the occasion of the 138th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation.
