Dalit BJP leader plans to convert to Christianity

Sagar, MP, Oct 2 (UNI) After former Jan Sangh MP Ram Singh embraced Christianity recently due to alleged untouchability and harassment, a Dalit BJP leader, alleging discrimination, has warned that he too would convert.

Shivprasad Choudhary, who had fought from Naryawali assembly segment in Sagar on a BJP ticket, had retired as a teacher in the Tribal Welfare Department. He alleged that he had not got the benefit of upgrade even after retirement.

Choudhary said he was in a state of penury and was unable to provide treatment to his seriously ill wife.

He alleged that an officer did not record his presence during his service tenure due to caste discrimination.

He said his inclination towards Christianity was due to this discrimination and he had been involved in propagating the religion.

He was also planning a mass conversion.

Choudhary, who had secured first division in post graduation in Philosophy from Sagar-based Dr Harisinh Gaur University, said he had written to President Pratibha Patil and the Madhya Pradesh Governor about injustice meted out to him.
