CNS launches campaign for savings programmes

Srinagar, Oct 2 (UNI) To educate people about the importance of savings for future needs, the Central National Saving (CNS) has launched a special campaign in Kashmir division for revival of Small Savings Programme and augmentation of collections, under various National Savings Schemes.

The Chandigarh Centre of the CNS in the Union Ministry of Finance has conducted training camps of authorised agents in Srinagar, Baramulla and Anantnag district headquarters in coordination with Postal authorities.

Deputy Director, National Savings Institute, Mumbai, Q D Shah, who was specially deputed for this campaign educated the agents during the training camps.

An official spokesman said besides in coordination with various NGOs and state government authorities, rural campaigns were organised at Dara, Sumbal, Wayil areas in which a large number of people were made aware of various post office schemes.

People were requested to observe thrift in their day today life and save for their future needs through National Savings instruments, he said.

He said such programmes would be conducted at other district headquarters also in the first fortnight of October in close coordination with Field Publicity Units, NGO's and State Government agencies to boost up the collections and popularise post office schemes.

This will also help state government to accelerate the developmental activities as 100 per cent collections raised under this programme are advanced to State Government as long term loan.
