AR to probe assault on civilians in Manipur
Imphal, Oct 2 (UNI) The Assam Rifles authorities in Manipur have decided to probe into the matter of assault on people of four villages by the troops on Sunday.
The AR PRO said appropriate actions would be taken against those found guilty.
People have alleged that jawans of 21 Assam Rifles had beaten up several innocent villagers following the murder of one of their jawan in an encounter with People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) cadres at Umathel in Thoubal district.
The Working Committee of Apunba Lup (WCAL), which is demanding repeal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act 1958 (AFSPA), also demanded appropriate actions against the troops.
