4 LeT militants arrested, 4 youths rescued in Doda

Jammu, Oct 2 (UNI) Security forces nabbed four Lashkar-e-Toiba militants and rescued equal numbers of new recruits of the outfit in Doda, while a huge quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from hideouts of ultras at various places in this region of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources today said.

Four LeT operatives, identified as Shahzad Hussain, Mohammad Yusuf, Fiaz Wani and Bashir Ahmed were apprehended by the troops, Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and police in joint operation last afternoon.

Four hand grenades were also recovered from the militants, who were involved in a series of blasts in Doda on June 25 this year, sources informed.

Besides, four newly-recruited youths by the outfit, identified as Riaz Ahmed, Mansoor Ahmed, Manzoor Ahmed and Abdul Shubhan were also rescued. They were reportedly missing for the last 25 days, sources said.

In Akhnoor sector, Army troops yesterday unearthed a cache buried underground in the dry riverbed at Malpur and recovered two AK 56 rifles, 250 rounds and four magazines.

Similarly, a cache wrapped in polythene, hidden under a boulder, was recovered at Kalas Mohalla Marhot, eight kms from Surankote (Poonch). One Chinese pistol, two magazines, six rounds of pistol, 85 rounds of PIKA gun and a binocular were recovered.

In another incident, Sepoy Ram Lal of 45 RR got electrocuted at Marhot. ''He was evacuated by helicopter to 425 Field Ambulance but he succumbed to his injuries,'' sources said.
