Two robbers held in Khambhat town
Anand, Gujarat, Oct 1 (UNI) Alert residents today caught two robbers while they were attempting to escape with stolen booty of Rs 35,000 cash at Vora ward locality in Khambhat town, about 50 km from here.
According to police sources, two robbers -- Raju and Sabbir Miyan Malik--had stolen Rs 35,000 cash from the residence of one Jainuddin Vora this afternoon and were attempting to escape when they were caught by neighbours.
Police said the duo went to Vora's house posing as deliverymen of a local courier company. When Jainuddin opened the door, the duo pulled out a country-made revolver and asked him to handover the cash from his safe.
However, when the robbers attempted to runaway with cash, Jainuddin shouted for help and alerted the neighbours, who gave a chase and caught the duo.
During the preliminary interrogation, the robbers disclosed that Raju was a resident of Petlad town, while Sabbir hailed from nearby Sakkarpur village, police added.
Police has registered a case of robbery against them.
