Dehra Dun, Oct 1 (UNI) Two people, including a woman, were arrested today for allegedly strangling a businessman to death for forcibly having illicit relations with the woman's daughter.
Uttarakhand DIG (Garhwal Range) Ashok Kumar told mediapersons here that though looting was involved in the crime, the main reason was illicit relations.
The two arrested were Ranjana, resident of Bijnor, and Ahfaq Hasan, resident of Kanpur, who murdered Arjun Nankani, businessman from Haridwar.
The DIG disclosed that Nankani had earlier forced Ranjana's elder daughter, who is now dead, to have illicit physical relations with him and recently had been coaxing her younger daughter as well.
The deceased had even proposed Ranjana to give her a house here and promised to look after both the mother and the daughter.
Smelling foul play, Sanjana and her associate Hasan then called Nankani on the pretext of sealing the deal and strangled him to death in Sumanpuri.
The DIG said Nankani's body was found inside his car at Natraj Square in Rishikesh on September three. The investigation led to the two's arrest with recovery of Rs 7.5 lakh, a golden chain and ring of the deceased.
