Elista, Oct 1 (UNI) Newly crowned World Champion Viswanathan Anand scaled the ELO 2800 peak for the second time in his career and is the only player to cross the magic barrier in the latest FIDE Rating list issued today.
Anand, who won the unified world crown in Mexico City yesterday, is atop the chart with 2801, though two ELO ratings lesser than his earlier highest of 2803 which the Indian achieved in April 2006 list as world number two behind Bulgarian Veselin Topalov's 2804.
Anand gained nine points from the World Championship and is 14 ratings ahead of Ukranian Vassily Ivanchuk (2787) who, without playing in Mexico, still added 25 ratings to his kitty.
Two points adrift of Ivanchuk is World Championship runners-up Vladimir Kramnik of Russia (2885) who retains his third position while former world champion and number one Veselin Topalov of Bulgaria slipped two places to fourth with 2769.
Topalov did not qualify for Mexico and did not earn any additional point from that of the July list.
