Monthly ration quota to card holders doubled: Singhi

Shimla, Oct 1 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Government today decided to double the quota of subsidised wheat flour, wheat and rice to all the ration card holders in the state.

''The decision to double the quota has been taken by the state government in view of the additional stocks. A review of the quota will be done every month, but in all probability, the facility will continue,'' state Food and Civil Supplies Minister Singi Ram said at a press conference here.

He said against a monthly quota of 15 kg wheat, 20 kg rice and 700 grams of sugar to all the 14.33 lakh ration card holders with five members each, would ow get 30 kg wheat, 40 kg rice and a kg of sugar for the month of October.

In case of more than five members in a family, the quota of three kg wheat and four kg rice per member would also be doubled, he said.
