Monsoon weak over North Interior Karnataka

Bangalore, Oct 1 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the weather office at 0830 hours today.

Monsoon was weak over North Interior Karnataka.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Coastal Karnataka and at isolated places over Interior Karnataka.

Chief rainfall amounts (cm): Jagalur 5; Ankola, Kalghatgi, Haveri 4 each; Kumta, Mangalore, Shiggaon, B.Durga 3 each; Puttur, Mulki, Kiravatti, Udupi, Karwar, Savanur , Ajjampura, Bharamasagara, Challakere, Maddur 2 each; Mani, Sirsi, Mundagod,Shirali, Mangalore AP, Khanapur, Hangal, Byadgi, Shikaripur, Srirangapatna,Channapatna, Honnali, Pavgada 1 each.

Maximum temperatures fell at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and changed little over Interior Karnataka. They were below normal at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and were normal over Interior Karnataka. Minimum temperatures changed little over the State. They were above normal at a few places over Coastal Karnataka&South Interior Karnataka and were normal over North Interior Karnataka.

Chamarajnagara recorded highest maximum temperature of 31.6 degree celsius and Haveri recorded lowest minimum temperature of 20.0 degree celsius over the State.

Forecast valid until Wednesday morning: Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at most places over Coastal Karnataka; at a few places over South Interior Karnataka and at isolated places over North Interior Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin: Moderate to rather heavy rain likely to occur at most places over Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada districts. Light to moderate rain likely to occur at a few places over Chikmagalur, Kodagu, Hassan, Shimoga, Belgaum, Dharwad, Haveri districts and at isolated places over remaining districts of the Interior Karnataka.

Heavy rainfall warning: Heavy rain may occur at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka during next 48 hours.

Forecast for Bangalore city: Generally cloudy.

Rain/thundershowers likely. Maximum&minimum temperatures would be around 30 degree celsius and 20 degree celsius respectively.
