Bhopal, Oct 1 (UNI) Bharatiya Janshakti (BJ) General Secretary Prahlad Patel today alleged that mafia was active in the education sector in Madhya Pradesh.
Mr Patel, whose fast against rampant corruption in the government entered the sixth day, said the BJP had not been able to control corruption in education sector which had started during the previous Congress regime.
He said about 100 private schools and nearly 6,000 employees had been taken over by the government against rules during the previous government regime. However, the present government had not taken any action in this regard.
Mr Patel said irregularities to the tune of several crores took place in the process of the takeover.
Besides, widespread irregularities were taking place in technical education and higher education department. Several private and technical colleges were being run by the political leaders.
As a result, students had to pay the price.
Mr Patel would end his fast tomorrow. Mr Patel and other senior BJ leaders would also address a public meeting tomorrow.
