Incessant rain inundates most part of North Bihar

Patna,Oct 1(UNI) Despite an abatement in torrential rains which spelt havoc during the last one week, several localities in north Bihar and capital Patna, continued to remain inundated, throwing life out of gear in affected areas.

With report of one death in Bahadurpur locality in Samastipur district, the toll in the downpour during the past one week touched nine. Earlier, eight people, including three women, lost their lives in Hajipur.

The condition in most of Patna continued to remain pathetic for the last four days as rain water entered their houses following heavy downpour.In localities like Kannarbagh,Lohanipur,Rajendra Nagar and Machhuatoli there was knee to waist deep water.

The residents of the affected localities in Patna heaved a sigh of relief as the accumulated water began receding after intervention of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Meanwhile,reports reaching Samastipur said the Kosi, Kamla, Kareh and Bagmti were maintaing rising trends inundating several villages in Hasanpur and Vithan blocks.The surging Noon and Jamuari rivers had inudated Dharmpur and Punjabi colony.The breaches in embankments on Balan river had caused inundation in several villages of Sarairanjan block.

Reports from Bagaha said the surging Gandak river inundated several villages in Thakraha, Bhitaha and Piprasi blocks of the West Champaran district.
