Gynaecologist gets bail in husband murder case

Varanasi, Oct 1 (UNI) A gyanaecologist accused of getting her doctor husband killed was granted bail in the murder case by a court here today.

District Judge Chandradeo Rai, hearing the bail application of Dr Shilpi Rajput, ordered the lady doctor be released on furnishing of two bail bonds of Rs 50,000 each.

Taking cognizance of the growing public resentment over the way the police handled the case, the District Judge also recommended a probe by an independent agency could be instituted into the matter.

The court further directed to send copies of today's order to Uttar Pradesh Home Secretary and District Magistrate of Varanasi for appropriate action.

Dr Shilpi Rajput alongwith six others, including her cousin and contract killers was arrested by the police last month for the September 13 murder of husband Dr D P Singh.

A state government doctor, D P Singh was shot dead by criminals in the Pandeypur area on September 13.
