Fake passports seized, one held

Lucknow, Oct 1 (UNI) The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police here today arrested a conman, who defrauded people on the pretext of sending them on foreign tours.

On being tipped off, Jitendra Singh, a native of Faizgarh in Patiala district, was arrested from Cantonment area.

A car, 10 fake passports, driving license, Rs 20,000 cash, 2 cell phones, precious jewellery, Bank of India's two pass books, fixed deposits worth Rs two lakh, International Debit Card of HDFC Bank were recovered from his possession.

According to police, posing as Ajit Singh of Lakhimpur Kheri district, the wanted criminal was staying in the state capital after tricking almost 50 Ludhiana people into giving him lakhs of rupees in the name of Dubai and Canada tours.

A case was registered.
