Jammu, Oct 1 (UNI) Expressing serious concern over the communal violence at various places in Jammu region after Team India's Twenty20 win over arch rival Pakistan, the BJP today demanded ''a magisterial probe into these politically motivated and Pakistan's ISI aided incidents''.
Addressing mediapersons after visiting affected areas, former state BJP president Nirmal Singh said the incidents in Rajouri town, Poonch and Reasi districts were similar to what had happened earlier in 1989-90 in the Kashmir valley.
''It is a planned attempt of anti-national elements to damage the social fabric and communal harmony in Jammu,'' he said.
Dr Singh, who toured the twin frontier districts of Rajouri and Poonch after violence episodes, said he had discussed the matter with local leaders of both the communities and found some political involvement in the violence.
''At first, they (police) did not appear (at the scene) even after one hour of incident and on next morning, when locals tried to lodge FIR against some people at police station, they resorted to unwarranted firing of teargas shells and lathicharge,'' the BJP leader said.
He termed Congress-led state government's claim of improving the security situation as ''hollow slogans''.
Dr Singh asked Azad-government to ensure protection to the members of Hindu community in the distant districts of Jammu.
