Lucknow, Oct 1 (UNI) Bharat Nirman -- the awareness programme launched by the Centre -- has gathered momentum up speed in Uttar Pradesh with six districts to hold a five-day public information campaign by March next year.

The public information campaign was launched by the Centre to create awarness amongst the masses on the different developmental schemes initiated by the government, including National Rural Employment Gurantee Scheme(NREGS) mid-day meal, Sarv Sikhsha Abhiyan, rural electrification, and Right to Information.

Public Information Bureau(PIB) in-charge and Director Regional Publicity Directorate Arimardan Singh said here today that Bharat Nirman programme would be held at Fatehpur from October 24 to 28 and it will be followed at Jalaun, Chitrakoot, Gorakhpur, Unnao and Sitapur.

Claiming that the recently held Bharat Nirman programme at Azamgarh was successful, Mr Singh said even after heavy downpour, the crowds had gathered at the venue.

He said, during the five day programme PIB and Regional Publicity Directorate with the assistance of other government departments held interactive sessions for the masses and experts were also invited to answer the people questions on the developmental programmes.

''We organise puppet show, magic shows, short plays and even quiz to make people aware about the developmental programmes'', he said adding that in the future programmes schemes like health checkups would be added.

The official maintained that during the programme they receive lots of suggestions and complaints about the schemes from the people which in turn were sent to the concerned central departments for corrective measures. ''We are just acting as a bridge between the government and the people,'' Mr Singh added.
