After S Manjunath murder, another IOC officer assaulted in UP

Lahimpur Kheri, Oct 1 (UNI) In an incident reminiscent of the sensational Indian Oil Corporation marketing officer and IIM-Lucknow passout S Manjunath murder case, yet another officer of this company has been assaulted by unidentified miscreants here.

Police said today the miscreants barged into the house of Bijendra Vikram Singh (28), a maketing officer in Indian Oil Corporation, and wounded him critically by thrashing with sticks last evening.

Ironically, akin to S Manjunath case, Bijendra was looking the work of a petrol pump from the past few months.

On November 18, 2005, S Manjunath was murdered on the premises of a petrol pump.

Seven accused had been sent behind bars, while two others, including the son of petrol pump owner, were given death sentence in the Manjunath case.

Meanwhile, Police had suspected the hands of 'oil mafias' behind the assault of Bijendra.
