Kolkata, Oct 1 (UNI) After five months' suspension, Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan have been reinstated in the CPI(M) Polit bureau with immediate effect.
Announcing this after the three-day Central Committee meeting, CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat today said the decision had been taken after reviewing the conduct of both the senior leaders.
''The suspension of the two leaders have been revoked. They have conducted themselves in accordance with the spirit of the earlier central committee decision and now they were reinstated in the Polit bureau with immediate effect,'' he told reporters.
The CPI(M) Polit Bureau suspended on May 26 Mr Achutanandan and Mr Vijayan, the two top-rung leaders, from the highest policy making body taking a serious view of their open rivalry and statements in the media criticising each other.
The party's Central committee endorsed the decision a month later.
The suspension of the two heavyweight leaders came at a time when the CPI(M) ranks in Kerala were poised for a vertical divide because of the factional row.
