Chandigarh, Sep 30 (UNI) After its successful launch in Haryana, the first mobile court in Punjab would be launched on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti at Talwara in Hoshiarpur district.

Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Vijender Jain and Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal would perform the launching ceremony on October two.

Stating this here today, an official spokesman said that the concept of mobile court is to take justice closer to the people so that those living in remote areas are able to benefit without incurring expenditure on traveling. The decision to launch the mobile court at Talwara has been taken because of its location and backwardness.

This court would take up cases at four centers--- Jandwal, Talwara, Hazipur and Kamahi Devi. The hearings at these places would be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, by rotation beginning from October 4 to October 30.

The spokesman also said that on Wednesdays and Saturdays the presiding officers of the mobile court would hold regular court at Dasuya.

The mobile court would be a regular court and would transact all types of judicial business. It would also take cognizance of criminal cases on the basis of police reports or criminal complaints.

The hearing of the cases would be just like a regular court, the spokesman added.
