NIN to observe 3-day Gandhian fast
Pune, Sep 30: About 40 staffers of the National Institute Of Naturopathy (NIN) will observe a three-day group fasting to highlight the ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi from October 2 to 4.
The staffers will drink only water during the three days of fasting.
NIN Director Babu Joseph said the Institute followed the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. ''The Mahatma was a staunch follower of Naturopathy and believed that it is the best way of treatment.
Through fasting, the Mahatma felt that diseases could be prevented,'' he added.
During the three-day fast, experts would be addressing questions on leading life with Naturopathy and mainly fasting, one of the main treatments in Naturopathy, such as -- How fasting can save lives of patients by curing diseases? What are the uses of fasting? Why Mahatma Gandhi advocated ''Life Natural'' for prevention of diseases, and fasting, dieting and other Naturopathy treatments for cure of diseases.
Gandhian activists and freedom fighters would also address people on ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi, Mr Joseph informed.
