Indore, Sep 30 (UNI) Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav today said the country is not economically and politically secure because of faulty policies of the central government.

Mr Yadav, while addressing the party's Indore divisional convention, said the country has been trapped in the clutches of the US and multinational companies due to faulty economic policies.

He alleged that the budget was being orchestrated by foreign powers and pointed out that political slavery followed economic slavery.

Mr Yadav felt that retail policy would endanger small businessmen.

The SP President said the Congress and the BJP had similar policies and both wanted that the Third Front does not come up.

''Both posed a threat to democracy and wanted to destroy democratic institutions'' he claimed.

SP General Secretary Amar Singh said the Congress did not care about the public. ''Congressmen were busy singing praises of their party president Sonia Gandhi and AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi'' he said.

He alleged that the BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh Government had failed to provide water, electricity and good roads. He urged Mr Yadav to become more active in Madhya Pradesh to provide people an alternative to the Congress and the BJP.

State SP President Gauri Singh, party MLA Sunilam and other leaders were present.
