Chennai, Sept 30 (UNI) ''We are on top of the world'', the proud parents of Indian Chess Stalwart Viswanathan Anand said on their son becoming the undisputed King by winning the World Championship title at Mexico City.
Exalting Anand for his historic achievement, his father Viswanathan said ''Even though Anand won the title, I felt I am on top of the world'', a similar view echoed by his wife and Anand's mother Susheela Viswanathan.
''We were praying for his victory and we watched the whole game on the Internet', he said and added that it was a dream come true for him.
The game started at 0045 hrs and ended at 0110 hrs. ''At 0111 hrs, the moment Hungarian Grandmaster Peter Leko shook hands with Anand, our joy knew no bounds'', he said and added that the phone never stopped ringing after that.
''We were so excited that we could not breathe for a minute'', an ecstatic Mr Viswanathan said.
''Immediately Anand called from Mexico city...We are so excited that we did not allow him to talk. We congratulated him for the feat. We also spoke Anand's wife Aruna, who too was equally excited'', he said.
''From 0111 hrs, the phone keeps ringing. A lot of friends, well wishers and relatives keep calling us. We will be celebrating the victory in our own modest way'', Mr Viswanathan added.
He said Anand would be coming to his hometown of Chennai after two weeks.
Ms Sushila Viswanathan said ''we are very happy that we could not react immediately. We spoke to Anand and his wife Aruna and congratulated him.
''I think the 13th game was a bit tough. We were a bit worried about that game. But for the 13th game, all other games went on smoothly and we are happy that he won the title'', she said.
