Palanpur, Sep 29 (UNI) Two persons of a six-member gang, hailing from Madhya Pradesh and allegedly involved in the much hyped diamond robbery worth over Rs 35 lakh, have been nabbed by the Ahmedabad police.
The accused -- Prahalad Udalsingh Bhadoriya and Ashok Teli, the former diamond cutter in a local unit, were busy selling few samples of the looted diamonds in the market yesterday when they were arrested and impounded two motor bikes used in the robbery. The duo were today remanded to 12 days' police custody, said Local Crime Branch Inspector B J Patel here.
According to Mr Patel, Bhadoriya owns four diamond polishing units at Naroda, Ahmedabad. However, they could not recover the pistol used in the looting.
In all, six persons all belonging to Murena district of Madhya Pradesh were involved in the much hyped diamond robbery, the first of its kind in Palanpur.
District police chief Vipul Aggarwal said a team, led by an Inspector, has been sent to Madhya Pradesh for further investigation.
