Two-day PGI-AIIMS conference on liver diseases begins

Chandigarh, Sept 29 (UNI) A two-day conference 'Current Perspectives in Liver Diseases' (CPLD-2007), the 7th PGI-AIIMS, organised by the Department of Hepatology at Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, in collaboration with Department of Gastroenterology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, commenced here today at PGI.

The conference, attended by around 250 doctors of Hepatology, Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, stressed on various infections related to liver diseases and their management.

Some other topics like liver involvement in malaria, typhoid, tuberculosis and the likes were also covered in the conference, which included a panel discussion on Hepatitis C virus and all the problems related to the diagnosis and treatment of such patients in India.

At the end of the day, Swami Dhirendra Acharya held a yoga session for the health workers and gave tips for de-stressing.
