Varanasi, Sep 29 (UNI) Unveiling a nationwide intense agitation plan to save the Ram Sethu from possible destruction, VHP general secretary Pravin Togadia today promised to make the movement a sequel to the highly successful Ayodhya movement of early 1990s.
''The nationwide agitation plan will be similar to the Ayodhya movement, which reached over 3.5 lakh villages. But being a sequel to the Ayodhya movement, this movement will cover over 6.25 lakh villages,'' Dr Togadia told mediapersons here this evening.
The movement, which started with the successful nationwide 'Chakka Jam' on September 12 last will be followed by 'Padyatras' at district level between September 27 and October 10, Dr Togadia said, while embarking on his initiative from Maidagin to Godowlia area of this temple city.
The 'padyatras' will be followed by 'Rameshwaram Ramsethu Rakshak Dharmayodha Bharti Abhiyan.' It would start from October 12 and go up to October 25. The drive will comprise countrywide enrollment of Rameshwaram Ramsethu Rakshak Dharmayodhas (RRRDs) from people, who are ready to espouse the cause of saving the under-sea bridge from destruction under the Sethusamudram Project.
Dr Togadia said every RRRD would recite the Hanuman Chalisa daily upto October 25 and would do so collectively on October 26 to mark the Valmiki Jayanti.
The firebrand saffron leader further informed that the RRRDs enrollement drive will pave the passage of Rameshwaram Ramsethu Shilayatra' (RRS).
From November 20 next, the RRS would start from over 5,000 places of the country. The trek will carry Rameshwaram Ramsethu like floating Ram Stone and would cover the length and breadth of the nation, including the places housing 12 'jyotirlingas' and important religious towns like Ayodhya, besides the Somnath Temple in Gujarat.
The RRS would have the replica of Rameshwaram Shivlingam, picture of Lord Ram, replica of the Ram Sethu, besides the Rameshwaram Ramsetu Shila.
The RRS would go to every block and village of the country, where people would come for Rameshwaram Ramsethu Shila Darshan. Those in the Yatra will recite 'Om Namah Shivay' daily 108 times to evoke powers from all 12 'jyotirlingas' to save the Ram Sethu.
This nationwide agitation will end only when the Centre gives an undertaking of not even touching the Ramsethu for the Sethusamudram Project.
''Merely withdrawing the flawed affidavit from the apex court is not enough. The Centre will have to give an undertaking that no efforts will be made to even touch the under-sea bridge which is close to the heart every ardent Hindu,'' Dr Togadia maintained.
