Protest against Scindia case continues
Shivpuri, MP, Sep 29 (UNI) Protest against registration of a criminal case against Congress MP Jyotiraditya Scindia continued today with few towns in Shivpuri district observing a general strike.
In response to the Congress call, Kolaras, Karera, Pohri, Khaniaghana and Narwar towns observed peaceful bandh with main markets remaining closed. However, government offices and educational institutions remained open, official sources said.
Pro-bandh supporters raised slogans demanding withdrawal of the case registered against Mr Scindia on Wednesday on the complaint of Rashtriya Samanata Dal MLA Harivallabh Shukla and his supporters.
Supporters of Mr Scindia and Mr Shukla clashed in Pohri area on Wednesday after Mr Shukla inaugurated rural road construction work even before the arrival of Mr Scindia, who was late by two hours. Both sides lodged complaints against each other with the police.
A case under sections 506 and 336 IPC was registered against Mr Scindia, who was recently appointed special invitee to the Congress Working Committee.
Mr Shukla, RSD MLA from Pohri, had unsuccessfully contested the last Lok Sabha election on BJP ticket against Mr Scindia from Guna constituency.
