Anyone could avail their services by calling 2205388. However, the PWC was not successful in its effort to make the number toll-free.
Ms Kamalini said the PWC has received 577 cases relating to atrocities on women of which 51 were from Karaikal Region.
As many as 41 cases from Puducherry and two from Karaikal were pending. Several women had not registered their marriages and the commission was now distributing applications for the registration.
So far about 700 applications had been distributed.
The PWC would hold a two-day training programme on October 11 and 12 for 64 women police constables who were to be deployed in the women's cell.
Ms Kamalini added the PWC would organise a campaign to create awareness on PWC in all schools and colleges here next month.
