The newly-crowned Indian Idol, who arrived here yesterday for his first ever live concert, would be given the State honours and also felicitated by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

According to reports, the NTB will make a humble request to him to be the brand ambassador for Nepal's tourism.

The winner of the third Indian Idol title, a popular singing talent show on Sony Entertainment Televison, Prashant is also scheduled to meet Nepal Prime Minster Girija Prasad Koirala during his stay in Nepal, Kantipur Daily reported.

''The PM himself has shown keen interest in meeting the Darjeeling lad of Nepali origin,'' officials at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil aviation said.

The 24-year-old constable of the West Bengal Police is to sing a Nepali Song during the concert which recalls the glorious past of the Nepalese-Yo Man ta Mero Nepali Ho- literally the song means 'After all my heart is Nepali'.

Nepal and the Nepali-speaking diaspora worldwide erupted in joy after Prashant vanquished his closest competitor Amit Paul hailing from Shillong to lift the coveted title.

Darjeeling-born Prashant is the first contestant of Nepali-origin to make it to the final rounds of a singing competition and finally win it.
