Chennai, Sep 29 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala today formally inaugurated Vcare's Global Institute of Health Sciences (VGIHS) to provide world class quality education in health, wellness and beauty sciences.
Gitesh Aggarwal, Business Development Manager, Australian Trade Commission represented Mr Aminur Rehman, Consul General and Trade Commissioner of Australia for South India at the inaugural function, held at Raj Bhavan here.
The Governor lit the traditional Kuthuvilakku and inaugurated the facility. He also launched the website of the Institute www.vgihs.edu.in and released a brochure.
Vcare's Global Institute of Health Sciences (VGIHS) is an internationally recognised institute, run by Vcare Health Educational Propagation and Development Trust.
The Institute aimed at providing world class quality education in Health, Wellness and Beauty Sciences. It has launched three six-month certification courses commencing in October, 2007 in Hair Dressing, Trichology and Beauty Therapy. In addition, a one-year Diploma course in Beauty Therapy will also be launched in October.
The course certification will be done by (The Technical and Further Education), TAFE Australia and VGIHS was accredited to Bendigo Regional Institute of TAFE, Australia. The Institute has also obtained an affiliation from M/s City and Guilds, UK.
''Students qualified from this Institute will be able to start their own hair and skin management clinics, get an opportunity to work in major FMCG MNCs and better their overseas prospects'', said Dr E Carolin Praba, the Chairman of Vcare's Global Institute of Health Sciences.
We also intend to start a Placement wing, which will assist the students to get suitable employment. The Institute will also include a research and development wing, which will conduct extensive researches in the fields of skin and hair care sciences.
The course fees, which ranged from Rs 1,25,000 to 1,75,000 is definitely a cost effective option if one considered the cost of the same if done in Australia. Students can now get global class training and certification from Bendigo Regional Institute of TAFE (BRIT) in India itself, she added.
