Jaipur, Sep 28 (UNI) The BJP today urged the UPA Government to initiate diplomatic efforts to build global opinion for joint operations with Pakistan and Bangladesh for eradication of bases of anti-Indian forces ''operating from the two neighbouring countries''.
Speaking at the national covention of the Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha(BJYM) here today, BJP President Rajnath Singh said UPA Chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh should exhibit their diplomatic skills to pressure both the neighbours in this regard.
He said an atmosphere should be created in which both Pakistan and Bangladesh could be forced either to take stern and effective measure on their own to destroy bases of anti-Indian militant groups from their soil or to agree to hold joint operations with Indian forces in their respective territories to eliminate these forces.
The BJP chief has alleged that ''undue soft handling'' of terrorism by the UPA Government at the Centre had undone the displomatic achievements achieved by previous Vajpayee Government in docking Pakistan over the issue of terrorism and anti Indian terrorists' bases operating from that country.
Mr Singh said then Vajpayee Government had succeeded diplomatically in convincing the world that anti-Indian terrorist activities were being operated and fuelled from Pakistan's soil.
However, only one statement from Dr Singh in which the latter had said that Pakistan was also the victim of menace of terrorism, had undone the good diplomatic achievement of the previous NDA Government.
The BJP President said now either Bangladesh and Pakistan should be made either to tackle appropriately anti-Indian activities from their soil on their own or if they are not capable enough they should accept the suggestion of joint operation.
''This should be achieved by diplomatic efforts'', he added.
