Tripura to set up Rubber factory
Agartala, Sep 28 (UNI) The Tripura government has decided to set up a rubber factory by utilising it own production of 200 tonnes of raw rubber for manufacturing cycle tyres, tubes and threading of tyres within the 11th Five Year plan.
State Industry Minister Tapan Chakraborty said here today that the Tripura Forest Development and Plantation Corporation Ltd(TFDPC) was entrusted with the responsibility to execute the proposed project, costing Rs eight crore.
Experts would visit the state to explore the feasibility of setting up the factory, he added.
The TFDPC, one of the few profit making PSUs in the country, would also set up five rubber factories at Takmacherra in south Tripura while an initiative was being taken to develop rubber-based tourism at Anandanagar, Mr Chakraborty said.
