New Delhi, Sept 28 (UNI) Taking note of the statements of Swedish investigator on Bofors kickback scandal who maintained that Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi was certainly one of the many kickback beneficiaries, the BJP today said his remarks only confirmed the party's suspicions of Congress-led UPA Government actions including allowing the fugitive's bank accounts to be defreezed.
BJP Spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that Mr Sten Lundstorm, had vindicated the BJP's assertion that the CBI was used by the Government to help the Italian businessman. His revalation that the CBI did not cooperate with the Swedish authorities also confirmed the allegation that the government was leaving no stone unturned to scuttle the investigation,'' he added.
Alleging that the UPA had blatantly used the CBI to free Mr Quattrocchi from Argentinian custody recently with the news of his arrest in Argentina was kept under the wraps for 17 long days, Mr Rudy asserted that the nation has a right to know the truth behind the kickbacks and the government must come out clean on all accounts about its alleged complicity in his wrongful acquittal from the South American country.
To a question about an eager government bending backwards to oblige the commands of newly inducted AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Mr Rudy said the country has to decide how many Prime Ministers it can have.
Earlier a Super PM functioned from 10, Janpath. Now we are having two or more Super PMs", he remarked.
