MONTREAL, Sep 28 (Reuters) The start of the seventh Presidents Cup between the United States and the Internationals was delayed by half an hour because of heavy morning rain.

Several of the greens at Royal Montreal Golf Club were saturated and organisers decided to give the greenkeeping staff more time to prepare the course for the biennial team competition.

The opening foursomes match between Americans Steve Stricker and Hunter Mahan and Australian duo Adam Scott and Geoff Ogilvy finally got under way at 2315 IST.

Conditions are expected to remain wet and cloudy with a chance of heavy thunderstorms later in the day.
