Modi grants clemency to prisoners

Gandhinagar, Sep 28 (UNI) Chief Minister Narendra Modi today declared clemency for 209 prisoners in view of the centenary celebrations of the Satyagraha movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi in South Africa.

According to an official statement here today, these prisoners who have spent twelve years in prison, will be set free.

This apart, male prisoners aged 65 years and above and female prisoners aged 60 years and above will also be set free.

Those prisoners who have served 90 per cent of their term will also be granted freedom.
