Modi demands to open 105 ITI centres in Bihar
Patna, Sep 28 (UNI) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today demanded that the UPA government open 105 new centres of Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) and 8471 skill development centres in the state.
Through separate letters to Union Minister Oscar Fernandes and to the Vice-Chairman of the Planning Commission, Mr Modi reminded them of the announcement made by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the occasion of Independence Day in which he had announced to open 1600 new ITIs and others such institutes under the skill development mission.
He said of the 38 districts of Bihar, only 22 had the ITIs and in these, long term training facility was available only to 7000 youths and the short term facility to 1900.
Mr Modi said his government was willing to open ITI centres at sub-divisional level and the skill development centres in panchayats for which the Centre will have to come forward with related projects.
