Junior, Sub Junior Triathlon Championship on Sep 30

Chennai, Sep 28 (UNI) As many as 120 triathletes (75 boys and 45 girls) will vie for honours in the 17th State Junior and Sub-Junior Triathlon Championship to be held here on September 30.

Indian Triathlon Federation (ITF) Vice-President N Ramachandran told reporters here today the three-discipline event involved 750 m swimming, 20 km cycling and five km running for juniors.

For sub-juniors, it would 500 m swimming, six km cycling and two km running.

Though Tamil Nadu of late had not been performing well at the national level due to lack of triathletes, the event was aimed at spotting future talents and mould them to win laurels in national meets.

He said the ITF would also appoint five coaches to spot talents, basically from the fishermen community and train them at the sub-junior/junior level.
