Home Guards Welfare Assn plea to AP Govt
Vijayawada, Sep 27 (UNI) The All India Home Guard Welfare Association (AIHGWA) Andhra Pradesh Chairman A Ramesh today appealed to the state government to make the 40,000 Home Guards in the state Class IV employees.
Addressing the press here, Mr Ramesh said the Punjab Government had already initiated work on a similar proposal made by the AIHGWA and the Andhra Pradesh Government should follow suit.
Presently the Home Guards were working for 24 hours as against the duty period of eight hours for Rs 3,000 a month. This should be increased to Rs 5,000 per month, he said.
The state government should immediately provide financial assistance and employment to the family and kin of those Home Guards who lost their life on naxal hunt.
Enhancement of quota for Home Guards in recruitment of constables, emergency leave and payment of salary by first of every month were among the other demands.
